Prerequisites:

All Prospective participants in an Instructor Course must:
 
  • Have current Provider status in the discipline you wish to teach. (You may obtain a Provider Certificate during this course by selecting the add-on option below.)
  • Have completed an Instructor Candidate Application (Provided in class)
  • Have the most recent edition of the AHA Provider Manual for the discipline you wish to teach. (Provided in class if you add on Provider Certification during registration.)
  • Complete the Instructor Essentials Online Course for your specific discipline found here: https://shopcpr.heart.org/
  • Have a valid BLS Provider Certificate (If you need to renew, you may select the add on during registration)

STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE INSTRUCTOR ESSENTIALS PRIOR TO THE DATE OF THE COURSE.

The following are the steps to become an AHA Instructor:

  1. Complete Instructor Essentials online at https://shopcpr.heart.org/
  2. Complete the classroom discipline-specific Instructor Course for which you are registering here. (Given On The Date Above)
  3. Be successfully monitored 1) Co-teaching TWO courses and 2) Teaching ONE course on your own while audited by Training Center Faculty
