The ACLS course builds on the foundation of lifesaving Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. This advanced course highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care, and immediate post-cardiac arrest care. ACLS also covers airway management and related pharmacology. Skills are taught in large-group sessions and small-group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.

The BLS for Healthcare Providers course is designed to provide a wide variety of certified or noncertified, licensed or nonlicensed, healthcare professionals with the skills to keep people alive until they can be brought to a hospital or be treated with more advanced lifesaving measures.

 The BLS course covers:

  • CPR on a Pregnant Woman
  • Two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag-valve mask
  • Foreign-body airway obstruction (conscious and unconscious)
  • Automated external defibrillation (AED) for adult, child, and infant
  • Special resuscitation situations
  • Other cardiopulmonary emergencies and stroke and cardiac arrest 
  • Advanced Airways
  • Rescue Breathing

The student must demonstrate proficiency in CPR and AED skills, including prioritizing chest compressions and integrating the AED. Upon successful completion of skills testing, students will receive an American Heart Association certificate.

The hands-on Heartsaver CPR AED course covers:

  • Adult CPR AED
  • Adult Choking

The Heartsaver ® CPR AED course is intended for all individuals who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements, including:

  • Child Care Workers
  • Security guards
  • Airline personnel
  • Police
  • Firefighters
  • Etc.

It is also appropriate for lay rescuers who may have a need to respond to an emergency in the workplace, and family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death.

The student must demonstrate proficiency in CPR and AED skills, including prioritizing chest compressions and integrating the AED. Upon successful completion of skills testing, students will receive an American Heart Association certificate.

The Heartsaver First Aid course, which teaches participants the critical skills and knowledge needed to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrive. The course is based on the American Heart Association Guidelines

  • First aid basics (including scene safety, finding the problem, and calling for help)
  • Medical emergencies (including actions for choking, breathing problems, and shock)
  • Injury emergencies (including actions for bleeding, broken bones, and burns)
  • Environmental emergencies (including actions for bites and stings, and temperature-related and poison emergencies)

The Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course teaches participants the critical skills and knowledge needed to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrive. This course also teaches adult CPR AED. The course is based on the American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and ECC.

The Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course teaches child-care providers and others to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. The course covers:

First aid basics, including:

  • Finding the problem
  • Stopping bleeding
  • Bandaging
  • Relieving choking
  • Using an Epinephrine pen
  • Child CPR AED
  • Infant CPR AED

Optional Modules:

  • Asthma-care training for child-care providers

The Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course is intended for people who regularly come in contact with infants and children, including:

  • Child-care/day-care providers
  • Parents and grandparents
  • Nannies and babysitters
  • Teachers and other educators
  • Anyone else with the responsibility to care for children

The student must demonstrate proficiency in CPR and AED skills, including prioritizing chest compressions and integrating the AED, as well as First Aid skills. Upon successful completion of skills testing, students will receive an American Heart Association certificate.

This instructor-led, classroom-based PALS course is an essential resource for training physicians, nurses, and emergency medical care providers in PALS. Also useful as a pre- and post-course reference book and is based on the American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and ECC.
